Ah, the General tab. This is where achievements are stuck when there’s really no other good place to put them. In here, you will find a slew of random, unrelated achievements, all begging to be completed. The General tab will be split into at least two posts, while I try to figure out how often I wish to publish posts and the rate at which I wish to go through the achievements in general. Bear with me here as I get into my groove and me love you long time.

We’ll start off with some of the easier achievements, which, unfortunately for some of you, you probably already have. But fear not! For we will get to the harder achievements as this blog progresses. We’ll get through this together, all in due time.

Our first today is the various level achievements. There are achievements for reaching levels 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80. While these may be somewhat time-intensive for a new player, they will eventually be reached through normal leveling means.

I’d like to take a moment here to mention that I had originally intended to include Represent in today’s post, but later decided to include it in a later post, in which I will also discuss the Ten and Twenty-Five Tabards achievements. Again, I’m still working on figuring out how all of this is going to go, and thus far I’ve developed a plan for which achievements will be in which posts, and this plan has been completed through the General tab, and I am working on my plan for the Quests tab next.

Back to achievements then. Another easy one is Going Down?, which requires you to fall from a height of 65 yards without dying. This seems like it can be tricky at first, but once you know a good spot to fall from, it’s just a matter of walking off that ledge. There are several highly-utilized locations around Azeroth, and a prime spot in Outland. Additionally, if you’re not exactly sure you’re going to make the fall without dying, various abilities can help. For instance, mages can jump and use Ice Block, paladins can use Divine Shield, and rogues and druids both have passive abilities to reduce fall damage (for druids it’s while in Cat Form), and there are other abilities different classes can use. Note that fall damage is a percentage of your health, rather than a set amount, so piling on heaps of stamina won’t help you survive that fall any better than a newly created level 1 character.

Check out the following screenshots for detailed methods of jumping:
Shattrath
The Exodar

I personally obtained this achievement by accident while in The Exodar, by jumping off exactly the way described in the above screenshot. I’d suggest doing this achievement without wearing gear that has durability, as it may take more than one attempt.

We’ve still got a few more to go for today, so let’s keep on going! Next up is Shave and a Haircut – simply head to Stormwind or Ironforge for the Alliance, Orgrimmar or Undercity for the Horde, or Dalaran or Area 52 in Netherstorm for either factions, find the barbershop, and have them change something about the way your character looks. The cost ranges based on your level, with level 1 characters receiving free customization and level 80 characters can get the cheapest customization for around 2-3 gold.

Today unfortunately seems to be the spend-gold-to-get-an-achievement day, though much less so than what I have planned for the next post. Actually, everything for next time will cost you money. And a lot of it. But don’t worry about that just yet, today is significantly less expensive. Our next achievement will have you headed to the bank, because it’s Safe Deposit. All you have to do for this one is have 111 gold and 10 silver. Just head on over to the bank teller, and purchase all 7 available extra bank slots, you don’t have to fill them with bags or anything for this achievement.

Our next two for today go hand-in-hand, well somewhat at least. Greedy and Needy will have you hoping for that 100 on blues and epics in regular level 80 Wrath dungeons and higher, to include heroics and raids, though you’d probably have trouble finding a raid using the group loot system. You’ll probably have a better shot at these achievements with a group of friends running heroics, so that you can roll need if you don’t have Needy without anyone else in the group pitching a fit because you won something they wanted, even though now Bind on Pickup items can be traded in instances.

Today’s final achievement will be the most expensive of those discussed so far, but again it pales in comparison to next time’s achievements. Seriously, you’re going to need a lot of gold for the next post. Anyway, I’m talking about Dual Talent Specialization of course! Once you’ve reached level 40 and have 1,000 gold, you can head to your class trainer and purchase this from them. Having this will allow you to have two different talent specializations, allowing you to easily switch between them so long as you’re outside of combat. This is very handy for any class, as it allows hybrids to switch between two different roles, pures to have a PvE and a PvP spec, etc. It may seem expensive, but the convenience of it alone is worth the gold.

And with that, we’re done for today! I plan on publishing new posts most likely on Saturday and another on Tuesday or Wednesday. This will give me some time to do my research and writing during the week and over the weekend, and will give all of you some time between having to read all of this. I suspect some of these upcoming articles will be considerably longer than today’s, but hopefully I’ll be able to make them informative and entertaining enough to keep you coming back! Feel free to leave a comment if you liked/hated it, I’d be happy to hear from anyone reading. Thanks again, and I’ll see you sometime in the middle of next week.
